- This is a list of the most common mistakes that students at A1 (and sometimes A2) make when speaking or writing in Spanish
- Incorrect gender of nouns.
- La niño — El niño
- Incorrect adjectival agreement.
- La niña alto — La niña alta
- The use of gustar in any form other than me gusta.
- Me gusto la clase de español — Me gusta la clase de español
- Confusion between me gusta and me gustaría.
- Me gusta una taza de café — Me gustaría una taza de café
- “Prefiero” – often made reflexive.
- Me prefiero los perros a los gatos — Prefiero los perros a los gatos
- “Es” instead of hay.
- En mi barrio es un cine — En mi barrio hay un cine
- Gerund used in place of Infinitive verbs.
- Me gusta jugando al tenis — Me gusta jugar al tenis
- A failure to use an infinitive when required
- Voy a juego – Voy a jugar
- Incorrect formation of the negative.
- Es no bueno — No es bueno
- “Es vale” to render ‘It’s OK’ and many other instances of poor dictionary use.
